FOCUZ’12 – Lukes Memmorial Photography Contest

This year’s lukes memorial photography contest – FOCUZ’12 will be held on the 18^th of February. The NSS unit of Amaljyothi is conducting the competition to find the true masters in the world of photography. The response from students of various colleges made the coordinators to aim bigger this time and therefore the prize money has been increased substantially. Photography alone will have prizes worth more than 10k. In addition to this, movie making competition will be there that will have the same total prize money. Some additional events will also be there. The competition is held in the name of our former student, Lukes whose lenses saw some of the most amazing scenes. Azure is a national level techno-cultural-management fest hosted annually by Amal Jyothi College of Engineering, Kanjirappally. This year, we are proud to present Azure’12, on the26th, 27th and 28th of January, 2012.

The fest comprises of 50 events worth a total cash prize of Rs. 5,00,000. Azure is one of the most sought after event in engineering history, with a fame that matches its scale.

BarCampKerala is one of the oldest and biggest tech related unconferences in Kerala which attracts techies, geeks, bloggers, IT professionals, freelancers entrepreneurs and students from many many colleges. Barcamp is an intense but fun event with lots of discussions, demos and interaction from attendees. There are no registration fees or any charges for a barcamp as this is a user-generated conference. But this new destination-in-demand for big business still features a society plagued with illnesses. Our inability to overcome the age-old issues of inadequate infrastructure, poverty, illiteracy and widespread economic disparity represents our greatest failure post-independence.

Why look towards the government and the bureaucracy when the transformation can begin at home? By overlooking our own capacities as harbingers of change and prosperity for the downtrodden in society, do we not sell ourselves short? Does not the new generation of citizens in the world’s most youthful nation possess the transformative power and vigour to re-shape society, and chart its own course to a brighter destiny?

WELCOME TO SOCIOPRENEUR 2011!

SOCIOPRENEUR is an annual event conducted by the E-Cell of Model Engineering College, Kochi and Young Indians (Yi) Net MEC. True to its tag “Think Different for A Change”, Sociopreneur recognizes the potential inherent in budding young entrepreneurs to mould the future of this country, and inspires them to utilize their creative and business acumen to create social ventures targeting any one or more of the several shortcomings of modern society.
